Cotswold Hills League
Premier Division, Saturday, 30th. May, 2015
Bidford on Avon (181) beat Leamington (130) by 51 runs.
A spell of “Kamikaze” batting saw Leamington III throw away a golden opportunity to register their first Premier Division win of the season. With the score standing at 89-1 in the 14th. over they looked well placed to achieve the target of 181 in 53 overs by some thoughtful, measured batting. However, in the next six overs four wickets, including those of top scorers George Tedstone (34) and Wayne Killiam (33), were lost for the addition of only 22 runs with each of the top five batsmen being dismissed, caught, from attacking strokes. Seeing their opportunity a disciplined and well organised Bidford team swept away the rest of the innings. The modest target had been achieved by some steady bowling which turned Bidford’s 130-2 to 180 all out. Robert Lord (2-12) made the breakthrough with two wickets from his first three deliveries and then Killian (3-53) and Matt Sellars (3-19) polished-off the middle and lower orders.
