LUCTONIANS prop Anthony Marfell was suspended for three weeks when he appeared before a Rugby Football Union disciplinary panel this evening.

Marfell pleaded not guilty to a charge of striking an opponent with his head contrary to Law 10.4(a) during last Saturday’s National Two North match against Macclesfield but he was found guilty by the panel.

Marfell was sent off during the Macclesfield match.

His suspension will run from December 10 to January 6 and he will be free to resume playing on January 7. The period of the suspension takes into account the break in the league programme over the festive period.

The hearing was held at the Bromsgrove Holiday Inn hotel before a  panel comprised of William Harbage QC (chairman), John Loughton and Alex Nock.
