The week before the BDFL takes a well-earnt festive break and despite our attempts to get some important cup games chalked off, we only managed to get 5 league games played not that we are complaining after another wet period of weather – Any game now is a massive bonus!

No games in the Premier Division with all the teams not getting to have a run-out so it’s straight to Division One where Chaddesley Corbett hosted Northfield Athletic in a top of the table clash, a game which saw the sides draw 2-2 and a hard fought point for both sides. In the absence of the usual detailed report from Northfield manager Chris Bench, we have had to pull out all the stops for some match detail but we understand Chadds took the lead in the 26th minute, Alex Dugmore racing onto a long punt from the goalkeeper to slot home. Northfield hit straight back with a mazy run from their front man who then finished with aplomb. With honours even for the most of the second half, it took a 78th minute header from the tall Chaddesley striker Ted Bayliss to put the home side ahead again. Northfield weren’t going to accept defeat though and a long range shot from their centre-half pulled it level with 4 left on the clock. Both sides then had chances to win it most notably Matt ‘Superstar’ Perry for Chaddesley but Michael Kane saved well. The hosts also felt aggrieved that a late free-kick wasn’t forthcoming on the edge of the area after Kane allegedly handled outside the area, however the draw was the correct result in the overall analysis.

In Division 2, Meadow Park had a 2-0 win at Hewell to maintain their place at the top of the table but they needed to win as Rednal Social Club, their nearest rivals at present, also won this time a 5-1 victory over LPR. First half goals from Ben Markall and Oli Pugh gave Rednal a foot-hole in the game although LPR had equalised after Rednal took time to re-organise after Kyle Morrison’s injury. Rednal came out with all guns blazing in the second half, further goals from Markall, Joe Forman and Ryan Vaughan saw them accelerate away from LPR to secure a comfortable home win.

In Division 3, two contrasting games; Firstly the quiet game which saw Bromsgrove Corinthians win 7-0 over FC Bromsgrove with ex Stoke Sporting campaigner Tom Mason netting SIX (Ed Tear with the other), these points today recover the ones lost by Corinthians after a recent breach of league rule. Over at Sidemoor, things were a little bit more livelier (more on that in a moment) but the home side AFC Millfields won 4-1 over Stoke Prior, goals coming from Ash Roland (2) and first of the season goals for Jordan Field and Steve Holmes. However in the 84th minute, three players were dismissed, Ryan Wood and Ben Craddock for Millfields and Riccardo Costa for Stoke Prior as the game became somewhat heated. AFCM will be happy that they have finally played a game of football again whilst Stoke Prior are left to reflect on what might have been as they failed to captialise on their fantastic result against Stoke Sporting Reserves from two weeks ago.

There are now no scheduled fixtures for next Sunday as we take a festive break, but we’ll be back on Sunday 03rd January 2016 with a full fixture list as our sides start 2016 with fresh hope and renewed dreams of silverware – Be sure to stick with us in 2016 as there is plenty of football to be played all the way through to the end of May…….and we’ll report on it every Sunday!
