PAST winners Hinckley have been given a home tie against Northampton Old Scouts in  the first round of this season’s National Colts Cup.

Hinckley, who beat Old Albanians in the 2009 final, will be one of 12 Midlands clubs involved in the first round which is scheduled to be played on or before the weekend of September 28/ 29.

The winners will have home advantage against either Oundle or Wellingborough in the second round in October.

Old Northamptonians, who were beaten by Bishop’s Stortford in the 2006 final, will face Newark at home in this season’s first round.

The National Colts Cup was introduced in the 1997/98 season as part of the East Midlands RU’s centenary celebrations.

A Plate competition for sides beaten in rounds one to three of the Cup was introduced in 1999/2000.

Both competitions are organised by the East Midlands RU.
