"Millennium Scroll" Administration Award 2016

The Wildmoor Tennis League for the South Warks Area presented a top Administration Award.

This trophy, the “Millennium Scroll” is for the best individual Administrator of 2016 in the League. This shield was awarded by the League Secretary Corin Bishop whose personal choice was Ray Foster-Morison of Evesham Tennis Club.

Ray has been the captain and contact for the summer league for the last thirteen years since Evesham joined the league in 2004.  He has been playing and organising tennis at Evesham for 25 years.  He also does the same job in the Winter League.  Selflessly he says “I wish to dedicate this award to club coach Andrew Crowther who has played for the A Team and run the B Team for the last few years which has reinvigorated the Evesham Rowing Club tennis section, especially the junior teams and tournaments he organises”.  He goes on to say “Andrew’s role has developed over the years and is vital to the future of the club”.  Finally, he thanked the Wildmoor Spa League for recognising the role of the captain and his players who consistently turned out in all weathers making his job as captain much easier.

Under his direction Evesham A team in their first summer league season of 2004 won the Division Three championship and the Floodlit Cup.  They went on to win the Division Two championship in the following season of 2005 together with the Floodlit Plate.  They were runners-up in the Charity Cup Final in 2007 and runners-up in the Premier Division always to Stratford in 2007.  They were runners-up again in the Premier Division in 2008, 2010 and 2014.  This all culminated in them being named Club of the Year in 2014, an honour which in no small way was down to Ray’s organisational abilities.  This year the A team finished fourth in the Premier Division.

Ray got his club to enter an Evesham B team in 2015 and they currently play in Division Five of the Wildmoor Spa Tennis League.  He also supports the league financially running an annual advert in their yearly Handbook which he has done continually for the last eight years.  His record this year and in previous years has been impeccable and he is thoroughly deserving of this award.
