Leamington Cricket Club 4th XI 192 for 7 lost to Dorridge & Hockley Heath 2nd XI 159 for 6

Weather conspired against leamington as we lost narrowly in the first game on the season. Batting first leamington made 192 for 7 in the 45 overs. Ainscow, Hawkins and Dixon all made contributions in the 20's but the backbone of the innings was provided by Cameron Mitchell who showed the benefit of his early season hard work with a cultured 48 not out. At such a young age all at leamington look forward to his future development into a star player. Ted ward after a 20 year sabbatical in a monastery provided a cameo innings and hinted at the promise to come.
2 breaks for rain worked in favour of the visitors with a revised target 0f 158 in 37 overs that they achieved with 4 balls to spare. Surely the original target would have proved too much.
Oli horswill on debut showed promise with a fine opening spell of line and length bowling. Steve Dyer surely will offer us more with bat with both bat and ball in future. A superb spell of controlled spin bowling from Williams put the breaks on with 10 overs for 10 runs. Working in tandem with Ryan at the other end, the spin twins almost pulled off an unlikely victory.
Joe Davidson on debut from the Royal leamington Davidson dynasty took a fine swirling catch that also promised to change the game result. He is another of our juniors that will show us more talent this season.
Great spirit and we look forward to the coming battles.
