HINCKLEY and Bishop’s Stortford, two past winners of the National Colts Cup, are through to the quarter-finals of this season’s competition.

Hinkley, whose win in 2009 interrupted a run of five titles for Bedford Blues, will host Tonbridge Juddians having beaten Yarnbury from Yorkshire 34-7 in the fifth round.

Bishop’s Stortford, who beat Worcester Wanderers in the final two years ago, will have home advantage against Kingsbridge from Devon.

Old Northamptonians, who were beaten finalists in 2006, are also through to the last eight following a 20-5 win at Lymm and they will now host Darlington Mowden Park.

Winchester will entertain Wolverhampton, last season’s National Under 17 Cup winners, in the other quarter-final.

The quarter-finals are scheduled to be played on or before March 15 but the Bishop’s Stortford v Kingsbridge tie has already been scheduled for March 8.

The draw for the quarter-finals of the National Colts Plate, which is contested by sides beaten in rounds one to three of the Cup, will take place on March 3.

The National Colts Cup was introduced for the 1997/98 season as part of the East Midlands RU’s centenary celebrations. The Plate competition was introduced two seasons later.

Both competitions are organised by the East Midlands RU and are contested by Under 18 teams from clubs across England.
