Murky conditions today but another round of games successfully completed and we anticipate a far quieter night in HQ than last week!

We'll go in reverse order today and start with a round up of Division 3. Stoke Prior went into today's game as league leaders and came out the same, after a 5-1 win at Belbroughton Athletic Reserves who were ruthlessly punished for their defensive errors today by an in-form and confident strike force. Goals by Michael Hesketh (2), Adam Harris, Elliott Nottingham and Jake Exley. A great game at Rubery Park too, which saw an 11 goal thriller, AFC Millfields getting the better of Longbridge Athletic 6-5. AFCM opened the scoring when Robert Stevenson played Courtney Lloyd through and he doesn't miss many of those opportunities! Longbridge levelled when new striker Luke Bridson scored after Will Heath had set him up. Longbrige stepped on the gas and increased their lead through Bridson's second and then Shane Heath scored after brotherly love from Will who claimed another assist. A half-time roasting from Adrian Godwin was obviously ringing in his players ears as Lloyd had his hat-trick up soon after the interval to pull the scores level, although the third was really an own goal that should really go down to Paul Walton. Longbridge's Chris Jones scored a fine 4th after some great link up play, but received a booking for taking his shirt off to celebrate! AFCM came storming back to reclaim the lead with two goals, it's 5-4 if you are still following, before veteran Longbridge defender and ex Vernon Arms manager Stuart Day got his first goal of the season with a cool finish to make it 5-5. It was left to AFCM's Stu Hatfield to score the winner with 2 minutes left on the clock as he converted a corner kick. Meanwhile Hizza United Seconds followed up last week's shock victory with another win, this time over Red Lions who are slowly dropping like a stone in water after a good start. The 6-0 victory was helped by a hat-trick from Tom Higgins, with one each for new signing Shane Hancox, Kyle Whiston and the Samurai Swordsman, Craig Sword.

In Division 2, FC Rednal ran out comfortable 3-0 winners over GLA Reserves thanks to Paul Mccourt, Stuart Thomas Andrews and an own goal. FCR remain in second place but may rue a points deduction come the end of the season. Bromsgrove United won 7-1 against Churchfields United largely thanks to Brad Bullimore's fine hat-trick. Dan Lawrence, Ryan Eves, Scott Bagley and Sean Mcdermott also scored, whilst the referee issued 6 yellow cards in the game including a first ever one to manager's son Ryan Eves. Ash Roland got Churchfields goal. The Bees are ominously placed in fourth poised to unleash their deadly sting on rivals above them in the coming weeks. Congratulations to Hewell Grangers who picked up their first point and positive result of the season with a 1-1 draw against Callowbrook Swifts, thanks to Michael Griffiths strike, with Tom Mason scoring for Callowbrook on their return from a month off the fixture list for various reasons. Studley Road Social's disciplinary problems continued in their 3-1 defeat at Victoria Barnt Green Reserves as they had 2 men dismissed for needless arguing and foul lanaguage, with John Brooks and Liam Haynes the men sent for an early shower. Vic raced into a two goal lead, before a penalty reduced the deficit and Studley were the better side for long periods of the game. The Vic were relieved when their own penalty award was converted to give them a two goal buffer and a scrappy victory, but the 3 points keeps them up with the leaders.

In Division 1, a good game at Boleyn Road saw AFC Northfield win by the odd goal in five, thanks to a brace from Matthew Carter and one from right back Martin Andrews his first goal and a fine 35 yard lob it was. AFCN came from 2-1 down after Danny Fogarty and Jason D'Aguilar had put the visitors in the driving seat. It was a bit more routine for league leaders Hare and Hounds who maintain their 100% winning league start and move 8 points clear, as they beat Spa Athletic 5-1. Scott Gaffney with a hat-trick, one each for Lee Dunkley and Ian Hickey. Two red cards in this match too, believed to be one for each side with Phil Burton the Spa offender.

No games in the Prem this weekend, with teams engaged elsewhere in cup action. Rubery Social Allstars kept LMS Shield Group C alive, knocking Redditch Athletic out of the competition at the same time, with a 5-0 win over the said team and keeping their own hopes up. A double from Gawlinski with one each from Lloyd Newman, Joe Drake and Alan Beech did the trick for the Allstars who now have to sit back and wait for Hare and Hounds to play Stoke Sporting in the final game, one the Hounds must win to qualify. Allstars are also awaiting international clearance to unleash a hot young Spanish prospect on the rest of the League. Also in the LMS Shield, Group A is now down to a straight two way fight between Redditch United and Rubery Athletic, with both sides winning 7-0 in their group games today and they have to play each other too. Redditch saw off fellow Prem side Golden Lion Athletic thanks in chief to 4 goals from Jay Gifford, whilst Adam Neason's hat-trick was the basis on which Rubery Athletic saw off Meadow Park. LMS Shield Group D has become a bit of a farce with the two teams folding from the league both in this group, this has left Belbroughton and Rubery Oak to fight it out alone; With expunged records, Oak and Belbroughton have now played two games against each other, with both sides winning one each, the latest today when Belbroughton won 2-0. We will be holding at least one more match, perhaps on a neutral venue, to decide the winners of the group, further discussions will occur between both clubs later in the week. In LMS Group C, Victoria Barnt Green look to have secured their place in the semis after a 3-1 win over West Heath United who simply can't seem to beat the Vic however they go about their business. Shaun May with two and one for Ryan Molesworth proved the difference today.

In knockout cup competition action, another fine win for the 'long ball' merchants, Toby Jug, as they completely took apart AFC Northfield Reserves, coming away with a 9-0 victory in the Rose Bowl Quarter-Final. AFCN had a goalkeeper making his first appearance in three years, Benjamin Wiggett, but he had an absolute stormer making numerous saves to keep the scoreline down. Toby's goals came from two hat-tricks (Matthew Paul Wilkes and JJ Evans), with Shaun McAughey getting two and Tom Gardner-Bennett one. Toby are still in every cup competition too, so even at this stage of the season, they are facing an arduous end of season run in. In the Bridgwater Cup Quarter-Final tie, Laburnum made light of their tie with Arrow Valley coming away with a 7-0 win thanks to Ryan Sproston's 4 goals, helped along by two from the Friendly Giant Andy Seager and one for Luke Bryan. Laburnum are also in another semi final, so exciting times ahead for them. In the Centenary Cup Quarter-Final, in-form Lickey End Social claimed another good scalp as they knocked Washford Lions out of the competition with a 2-1 victory thanks to an own goal and Jamie Gardener's 30 yard strike. Returning striker Roland Rignall got the Washford goal after coming on as a second half substitute, but then blotted his copybook by getting sent off for Serious Foul Play on the home goalkeeper, as the game exploded into life some 10 minutes later.

Next week's fixture list sees the return of the County Cup and good luck to all of our sides left in the competition, especially Belbroughton Athletic who have a tough looking tie at Kidderminster Division 1 side TS Units. That flag has some life left in it yet this season! We also play the first of the seasons semi finals in the MG Sportswear Cup as Stoke Sporting attempt to inflict a first defeat on Hare and Hounds, whilst league action makes up alot of the other games scheduled.
