NORTH Midlands will begin their attempt to win promotion back to the County Championship Bill Beaumont Cup First Division this season with a home match against Surrey on May 9.

North Midlands were relegated in May after only one season in the top flight and will compete in the Second Division South pool this season.

They will travel to play Devon on May 16 and then host Somerset in their final group match on May 23.

East Midlands will again compete in the Second Division North where they will travel to play Northumberland on May 9 and then host Eastern Counties in their second and final pool match on May 16.

The other four Midlands Counties have again opted to play in the County Championship Shield.

Leicestershire will host Buckinghamshire on May 2 in their opening Pool One match and then face successive away fixtures against Berkshire on May 9 and Oxfordshire on May 16.

In Pool Two Notts, Lincs & Derbyshire will host Warwickshire on May 2 while Staffordshire entertain Cumbria.

On May 9 Warwickshire will host Staffordshire in another Midlands derby while NLD travel to Cumbria.

The final round of pool matches will be played on May 16 when NLD are at home to Staffordshire and Warwickshire make the long trip to Cumbria.

Venues for all matches have yet to be decided.
