The annual exodus of under 8s to under 12s on rugby tour to Prestatyn took place on the weekend of the 22nd  April. Young players, family and friends enjoyed a weekend of rugby, fun games and a chance to forge friendship’s with new clubs.

Under 8s

Better known as the Gladiators the under 8s took on two very strong Mould teams both games won by the Gladiators doing themselves, coaches and parents proud.

Under 10s

A last minute glitch meant the u10s had to quickly get used to Welsh rugby rules. So the first game was a heavy defeat for Old Hales but to give credit to the young players they were soon on top of things and in the second game tackles missed in the first game were now stopping the opposition. With better defensive organisation preventing Mould using their wings Old Hales held them to a draw. Good tries by Kealan Cheadle and Adam Harris.

Under 11’s

The Saxons played two games on tour using unfamiliar welsh rules. First game against Mould was a closely fought game with the home side winners 17 – 14 with some lovely rugby played by both sides. The second game was won 31 – 17 by another visiting team Knotsford who scored a number of great breakaway tries against the Saxons tiring legs. The under 11,s are looking to recruit new members during the summer to take into the under 12’s in September.

Under 12’s

Playing on an almost full sized pitch with lineouts for the first time and playing under part Welsh rules the under 12s ran in 6 tries to win in good style, with excellent passing along the back line to score one of the trys the game was a pleasure to watch. Good rucking and tackling from the forwards and a couple of lung bursting runs from James Quinn and James Lacey slotting over a conversion from the far left side of the pitch helped the team win comfortably.

A great weekend away for the minis annual tour. Old hales mini junior section welcome new members from the age of 4 upwards. A friendly welcome is guaranteed and all mixed teams of girls and boys are ran for the younger teams. Everyone gets to play.
