Old Halesonians Mini and Junior section were delighted to welcome England International women’s player Heather Fisher as a guest coach ahead of some important matches this weekend.

Heather visited the club as a guest coach for the U16’s squad and also found time to pop across to the girls teams to pass on some helpful tips. The women’s rugby union player represented England in the 2010 Women’s Rugby World Cup and was part of the GB Rugby Sevens Team, at the Rio Olympics.

John Wragg, U16’s Head Coach said, “With an important cup match at the weekend the boys are extremely fortunate to be able to benefit from Heathers coaching skills.” And any words of wisdom would have been much needed on Sunday as they faced a Birmingham Solihull side who pervious won this cup and that included five U16’s international team players. Unfortunately it was a task which proved beyond Old Hales with the game finishing 58 – 7.

Both the U13’s and U15’s girls team were also in action this weekend against a combined side from Camp Hill and Walsall. Showing great improvements in their skills since starting a few months ago the U13’s girls stormed to a 17 – 2 victory, while the U15’s had a tight game which they ultimately won 8 – 5. Coach Claire Humphries said “They all worked as a team, they rucked over and got the ball. I’m so proud of them all.”

Heather will be making another visit to OHRFC later in the season.
