Pitch Up and Play with Old Leamingtonian Ladies

Old Leam’s pitch up and play attracts more women to rugby. Success of Old Leamingtonians Ladies pitch up and play on Saturday saw ten women pick up a rugby ball for the first time.

New to rugby, Shannon Lynch said “After England women won the world cup last year I’ve always wanted to give rugby ago; I’ve had an amazing morning getting stuck in, the team has made me feel so welcome I cannot wait to start training with them” The morning of women’s rugby was held in partnership with “England Rugby” #RugbyWomen pitch up and play. And with the Men’s rugby world cup just round the corner Old Leam’s Ladies are keen to get the message across “if you just thought rugby was a sport for men! Think again!

Old Leam’s are an established team who play in a league who’s focus is to encourage women & girls into the sport with, enjoyable and fun sessions so weather you are brand new to rugby, or a returning player, we are the club for you. Chairwoman Megan Smith said – due to the success of Saturday we will be holding a 2nd pitch up and play on Wednesday 19th August at 7.30pm it will be completely free and provide a fantastic introduction to newcomers wanting to give the sport a try!
