OLs' cup run came to an end at The Crofts on Saturday, when they lost narrowly to a strong Hereford side.

The visitors were camped in OLs 22 from the start, but the defence held firm. An early yellow card for Hereford failed to disrupt them and a penalty saw them take an early lead. Tempers flared shortly after as a late tackle from George Parker on the Hereford 13 saw a yellow card for both. Unfortunately, the melee was joined by Hereford's first carded player, who joined from the sidelines! He was issued a red card, giving OLs a numerical advantage for the last hour.

Despite the imbalance in numbers, Hereford drove further ahead scoring a converted try from their superior line out. OLs discipline began to improve a little and there was no further score before half-time.

Hereford remained dominant on the restart and extended their lead when the livewire scrum-half slid over from a free-kick. At 17 - 0 OLs were looking at a heavy defeat, but to their credit they regrouped. With the scrum now on top, OLs finally took the attack to Hereford and where rewarded when the forwards rumbled towards the line, allowing Alex Witchell to score in the corner.

Hereford's defence, imperious throughout, ensured there was no further score.
