The Wychavon Parish Games started on Saturday when the Bell Boating took place on the River Avon in Pershore.  Although it was wet early in the day, by the time the crews took to the river, the sun was out.

10 Parishes took part, and, as expected, competition was fierce.  The first heat of the day saw last year's winners and runners up drawn against each, with Drakes Broughton beating Fladbury.

At the end of the heats, the teams all took part in finals according to their times in the heats.  Both Fladbury and Drakes Broughton were in the A final, along with Inkberrow.  However, this time, Fladbury managed to edge out Drakes Broughton by 2 seconds, meaning that the final result was the same as last year, with Fladbury winning, from Drakes Broughton in 2nd place.

Inkberrow were in 3rd, and Eckington 4th,.  Bretforton were in 5th, just ahead of their nearest rivals - Badsey & Aldington - in 6th.  Wyre Piddle were 7th; Honeybourne 8th, Defford (back in the Games after some years) 9th and South Littleton 10th.

The next event is the Men's Five-a-Side, sponsored by Chase Heating, which takes place on Sunday 10th July at Badsey Sports and Recreation Club.

Draw sheets for the knock-out events will be sent out to all Parish Captains within the next fortnight.
