Orienteers from around the country had several choices of events to compete in this weekend and club members chose: urban races around Bruges in Belgium and Bracknell in Berkshire and classic cross country courses on the hills of Leicestershire and in the Lake District.

The annual Twin Peak event in the Lake District was run on open fell terrain beside Ullswater, and after two days, the first on Angle Tarn Pikes and the second on Place Fell  provided some good results for club members. Anne Straube was the overall winner of the W40 class coming 1st on both days in a total time on 121.49mins. Hilary Simpson was also first, with a narrow margin of only 5 seconds, on the W75 course having won the first day and being placed 3rd on Day 2 taking 118.44mins. Trevor Simpson M75 was 2nd overall on his course with a 1st on Day 1 and 6th on Day 2 taking a total of 113.52mins. Carolyn Marr was 3rd overall on the W65 course after winning Day 1 and being placed 5th on Day 2. Julie Emmerson clocked up a 3rd place on Day 2 at Angle Tarn on the W21 course.

Congratulations to Club Chairman Liz Phillips who achieved a 2nd and two 3rd places in her age class in the three urban events staged over the weekend around the city of Bruges in Belgium. Top placed Droober at the Leicestershire Borough Hill event was Roger Hailey M75 who came 5th on the Medium 3.1km course.

Running around the well planned intricate courses of the Great Hollands district of Bracknell was very popular and formed part of the UK National Urban Orienteering League. Using the touch free Emit tag timing system Alfie Bullus M16 was 2nd on the Junior Mens 3.05km course taking 22.06mins, Richard Gardner was 7th on the Mens Super Vets 5.74km course in 42.45mins and Chris McCartney was 8th on the Mens Vet 7.16km course in 49.51mins. Margaret Willdig was 3rd in 43.27mins on the Womens Super Vet 4.11km and Jane Stew 8th in 53.48mins, and Karin Kirk 4th on the Womens Ultra Vet course 3.13km in 43.12mins.
