At Arden Sailing Club on Sunday the members were treated to a beautiful sunny day with a perfect sailing breeze for their handicap races.
In the first race of the day, the crews were divided into two heats. In the group consisting of the faster dinghies, were three Solos, an Enterprise and a Laser, whilst in the slower group were four Comets and two Herons.
Very close racing ensued with the two Herons keeping within a boats length of each other during most of the race before David Yule (Heron) sneaked ahead to take a lead which turned out to be enough to clinch the race. Behind the three Solos also enjoyed remarkably close racing and although beaten over the finishing line by a second
Simon Newman managed second overall on handicap with Alan Browning third and the comet of Tricia Wood in fourth place.
The second race of the day also saw a divided fleet with Tricia Wood taking an early lead amongst the Comets, which she extended to
finish first Comet, but second to David Yule's Heron, in the Commodore's Cup.  In the Bert Thurlow Trophy, Simon Newman took the lead amongst the Solos to win their race with Ralph Evans taking 2nd.
