Bretforton 1st XI        6           Redditch 1st XI           0

Bretforton made a constructive start to their pre-season training with a 6 – 0 win against Redditch.

With their new inclusion in South West Premier League 2A they will, with respect, face tougher opponents but Redditch proved to be a dogged opposition.

Both teams agreed to play a three section match to aid training and Redditch started the game strongly.  Unfortunately for them they were faced with Bretfortons new look line-up in defence, Sarah Cook, Karen Fynn, newbie Heather Carr and Daisy Wheeler – Carr in particular having an impressive first game for the Vale side.

The forwards and midfield kept themselves busy.  Sarah Hall and Emma Lowe as always working their socks off to keep forward momentum alive and it didn’t take long before veteran striker Deb Slatter opened the scoring for Bretforton, and, not to be outdone, Tess Lewinton scored on her debut in a pink shirt with a fiercely driven shot from open play.

Bretforton are also thrilled to welcome back Sophie Hamilton who scored her trademark penalty corner goal and a brilliantly placed second goal from open play.  Julie Halls hard work was rewarded by a goal and Lisa Workman wrapped up the scoring with a fine solo effort.

Next weeks final friendly is away at Worcester but then the real fun begins !  Bretforton first home game back in the premier league is against Salisbury – league games do not get tougher than this – they narrowly missed out on promotion to Prem 1 last season !  The game is at Evesham High School on 28th September 2013 and is a 12 noon start – please do come along and cheer the girls on to what promises to be an exciting game !
