Alcester & Ragley Park (182-10) v Leamington III – match abandoned (rain)

Leamington travelled to Alcester looking for a convincing win to separate them from their hosts and the Premier Division relegation zone.  However, the rain that arrived during the tea interval prevented them chasing what looked like an achievable target.  The Alcester innings began at a steady rate as Dan McCarthy (3-23) removed the opening pair.  The run rate then began to sag until Dipple (22) arrived to join Layton (44).  During a fifth wicket stand the recently arrived ex-Bidford pair lifted the run rate back up above 4 an over.  Thereafter, despite the regular fall of wickets the rate was maintained.  The innings closed at 182 in the final over, Wayne Killian returning figures of 3-59 and James Whitfield 3-12.  The abandonment of the match was an easy decision and leaves these two teams occupying the bottom two places in the division.
