Worcestershire County Cricket League

Summary of results Saturday 19thJuly 2014

Amazing to report but the Test match at Lords had a whole uninterrupted day’s play, whereas in soggy Worcestershire, play was only possible at one ground!

The match in question took place at Burghill where, some patience and some good covers ensured that the home side got their reward for all their hard work in preserving the Division two 1st XI fixture.

Put into bat after a slightly delayed start, Coombs Wood made 142 all out in 41 overs and then the home side lost 7 wickets in getting a victory which now takes them 26 points clear at the top of the table. Burghill took 24 points to Coombs Wood’s 3 bowling bonuses.

So the only other sides to get more (or less)  than 5 for an abandoned match throughout the league was Evesham 3rds who had their Division Eight game conceded to them the night before by a fair minded Worcester Dominies who honestly revealed they could not raise a side. This takes Evesham up from3rd to 1st in the table as everyone else was watched TV.
