Tries from Thomas Grimes and Sean Brown and replacement Jonathan Burn saw Blaydon topple league leaders Doncaster and win for the sixth game on the bounce. Only a late try and penalty spared the Knights leaving Crow Trees with nothing.

Esher's bonus-point victory at home to Tynedale sees them take over at the top of the division. Forwards Brandon Walker and Mike Macfarlane grabbed a brace of tries apiece as Esher ran in eight tries in total, all of them converted by ace kicker Luke Daniels, in a 56-24 victory.

Third-placed Rosslyn Park bounced back from losing their unbeaten tag at the hands of Fylde the previous Saturday by kicking off the weekend with a bonus-point 31-5 win over Loughborough Students on Friday night.

Coventry maintained their 100 per cent home record with a 32-5 win over Fylde, watched by another bumper crowd at the Butts Park Arena. Coventry flew out of the blocks to open the scoring on four minutes through Mark Kohler before Daniel Hobbs-Awoyemi, Cliffie Hodgson and Chris Locke added tries in the bonus-point win. Hodgson, playing at centre instead of his usual position at full-back, also kicked 14 points.

Wharfedale are just two points behind Coventry in fifth following an 18-13 win over Richmond at The Athletic Ground. But it took a last-gasp try from Scott Jordan for the Greens to head north with the points.

At the other end of the table, Hull Ionians won for the first time at the tenth time of asking after a 31-20 win over fellow promoted side Worthing. Lloyd Hayes kicked 16 points and scored a try.

Two first-half tries from Billy Johnson and Stefan Liebenberg laid the platform for an Old Albanians victory by 17 points to 10 over Henley which robbed the Hawks of their unbeaten home record.

Meanwhile, Cinderford scored three second-half tries to beat Blackheath 25-0 – their fourth win in a row over 'Club' at Dockham Road.
