Newly promoted Chester continue to enjoy life at a higher level after a 26-5 home win over Preston Grasshoppers made it three wins from three for the Hare Lane outfit in SSE National League 2 North.

After a scoreless first half, 'Hoppers prop Mo Mustafa eventually broke the deadlock with a try on 48 minutes. That was as good as it got for the visitors though, as Chester found their stride to score four unanswered tries.

Chester move up to third place in the table on 14 points, behind Stourbridge and Macclesfield who made it three bonus point wins in a row with victories over Birmingham & Solihull and Hull respectively.

Goal-kicking winger Jamie Hearn contributed 12 points to the Stourbridge cause, with Jordan Page, Stefan Shillingford, Gary Dipple and Matt Farrington dotting down for tries in a 32-10 success. Macclesfield had to twice come from behind to see off the threat of plucky Hull and maintain their perfect start to the season.

Henry Robinson's blistering start to the season continued with two more tries for Darlington Mowden Park in a 48-21 win over Bromsgrove at the Northern Echo Arena. DMP scored seven tries in total and would have passed the half-century mark had they managed more than two conversions.

Otley had the result - and the bonus point – sewn up with half an hour of their contest against Dudley Kingswinford left to play. The Cross Green outfit raced into a 29-0 lead following tries from Chris Gemmell, James Wood and Dan Temm (2) and nine points from the boot of Mark Ireland. Temm went on to complete his hat-trick on 58 minutes, shortly after Dudley had registered their first points of the match through Steve Blackburn's converted try. Two late Dudley tries – one of them converted – made the scoreline a more respectable 36-19 in Otley's favour.

It was a similar story across the Pennines at Park Lane where Sedgley Park laid the foundations for a 29-17 win over Sheffield Tigers with four tries to only one in reply after 62 minutes of action. Two late tries proved scant consolation for the Tigers who only have Dudley below them in the table.

Leicester Lions and Luctonians completed a clean sweep of home wins across the division but theirs were much closer affairs. The Lions withstood a late fightback from Caldy to win 18-13, while a brace of tries from Drew Cheshire helped Luctonians to the narrowest of victories (32-31) against Harrogate.
