With the Grand Prix, Wimbledon and strong winds there were only a select few of hardy individual willing to take to the water at Arden Sailing Club last Sunday.

To be precise 3 Comets and 1 Supernova started the first race leaving another Comet and a Heron on the landing stage hoping the wind would drop.

After the first Lap one of the Comets decided discretion was the better part of Valour, one capsized but kept going one sat on the bank sorting it’s rigging and the Supernova, very over powered struggled on.  Finishing the exciting pursuit race Stuart Stephen (Comet) was first followed by David Stephen (Supernova) Second and third Ralph Evans (Comet).

The same sailors took to the water for the second race which should have been to Strensham and back however OOD Keith Hodges made the decision to use a short course to enable him and the rescue boat to keep the competitors in sight at all times due to the poor conditions.  At the end of another race with spills and thrills a plenty The race was won by Stuart Stephen (Comet) followed by Ralph Evans (Comet) and David Stephen (Super Nova) 3rd

There are still limited places available on the sailing course 23 & 24 July for anyone interested in learning to sail.  See
