Leamington put the disappointing defeat at Walsall behind them as they secured a three wicket victory at home to Barnard's Green as they continue to push for promotion.

Barnard's Green won the toss and batted first and openers Rhodes and Curtis did well to get through the opening exchanges in an opening stand of 52 as Faisal Khalid and Grant Thornton (1-15) both bowled very economically. It was the introduction of Will Field (2-34) who quickly removed both of Barnard's Green professionals as he had Rhodes (29) caught behind before bouncing out Hepburn to really turn the game on its head. The spin trio of Nabeel Asghar (1-31), Mark Ashcroft (3-51) and Neil Smith (3-27) then ripped through the middle and lower order as Barnard's Green were bowled out for 188 despite their strong start. Curtis top scored with 59.
In reply Leamington lost regular wickets in their pursuit of victory despite contributions from Jamie Marsh (33), David Bailey (36), Lee Hopkins (26) and Grant Thornton (34). However, with no real momentum throughout the innings, the home side needed six an over off the last five overs but thankfully Asghar (13*) and Neil Smith (18*) held their nerve to win with an over to spare and three wickets in hand in a thrilling finale. The winning moment came when Smith unleashed a familiar leg side six to win the game! For the visitors Tongue (3-38) was the pick of the bowlers.
This weekend Leamington travel to Bromsgrove on Saturday before hosting Moseley on Bank Holiday Monday.
