In freezing muddy conditions, the Tigers second team earned a whitewash victory against Keresley, 41-0

In a game littered with scrums, both teams fought early on to establish themselves in the game. But it was Cheltenham who took their opportunity scoring their first try through centre Suzie Walker whose quick footwork dodged defenders to open the scoring account.
Keresley hit back strongly after the kick off and infringements from the Tigers allowed Keresley to work their way closer to the try line. They attacked relentlessly through their strong ball carriers in the forwards. They kept Cheltenham pinned on their try line but the defence was good enough to soak up the pressure and ultimately drive their opponents backwards.
Cheltenham then responded by moving the ball wide to fullback Kim Drage who stepped her opposite number to score under the posts.
Handling errors crept in as the game wore on as the ball (and players) got more and more muddy and slippery.
Keresley continued to apply pressure at set piece but they couldn’t make the most of their possession.
In the second half the Tigers came into their stride scoring from the kick off as Keresley couldn’t cope with the dynamism of the Cheltenham back line.
Powerful centre Natalie Walker went crashing through the middle to score a brilliant solo try which she converted.
Snaking runs from Suzie Walker and Tammy Shakespeare kept the Keresley defence guessing and as they began to tire, Cheltenham created multiple overlaps. Winger Cesca McAlinney added a hat trick of tries to her tally this season, and flanker Naomi Cole also got on the score sheet.
Another bonus point victory further extends Cheltenham Tigers Ladies 2s lead at the top of the table in the West Midlands NC league.
