After Worcester Wolves’ 117-60 thumping of Surrey United last weekend, a couple of the stars of the show have been named in the starting five of the first BBL Team of the Week for the 2013-14 season.

New signings Will Creekmore and Zaire Taylor are the men in question, both of whom are sure to be pivotal players this Friday when Wolves face the much stiffer challenge of high-flying Leicester Riders at the University of Worcester Arena.

6 foot 9 inch forward Creekmore made excellent use of his size when muscling aside the Surrey defenders on his way to a huge debut performance of 32 points and 17 rebounds.

Former Leicester guard Taylor also showcased his talents for the first time in his new club’s colours by pouring in 29 points, dishing out seven assists and stealing the ball from his opponents an outstanding nine times.

Worcester Director of Basketball Paul James is delighted to see two of his new-look squad make an immediate impact, saying: “Alongside Alex Owumi, Will and Zaire form a strong core for the team. I am sure this will be only the first recognition of many for Wolves players this season.

“While Surrey were certainly not the strongest of opposition, it was still outstanding to see such impressive debuts. This coming Friday against Leicester will undoubtedly be a much harder task for all of the players, but I’m sure they will rise to the challenge.”

Tickets for the much-anticipated debut of the Wolves at their new home venue (tip off 7.30pm) are selling well, but supporters can make sure of their seats by purchasing tickets online by visiting the club’s website:
