Our Under U16 Cup Final took place at Littleton Football Club on Saturday 10th May and the league would like to thank our hosts for making their facilities available to the Ambassador Evesham Football League.

Not only did the final pair two local rivals, both Pershore Town & Badsey Rangers entered the game on long unbeaten runs, so the game promised to be a cracker.

The match attracted a large crowd, no doubt eager to see which side could possibly break the strongest defences since the turn of the year.

From the first whistle, both teams played the ball around comfortably and it was easy to see just why these teams are in such good form. The midfield battles ensured that any likely attacks were broken up at the earliest opportunity and both defensive shapes looked accomplished and uncompromising.  The 1st half looked like it was heading for a draw but a good interchange of passing from Badsey carved out a clear goal-scoring opportunity and a clinical finish from Thomas Daniels put the Rangers in the lead at the break.

The 2nd half  saw an immediate rise in the temperature of the game, so it was no surprise when the first caution of the match arrived within 5-minutes of the interval. This appeared to have calmed some of the exuberant emotions and the game began to open up in an enthralling end-to-end encounter with high quality passing and tackling.

Pershore Town tried to force an equaliser but with 10-minutes remaining their cause suffered a severe set-back when they were reduced to 10-players following what appeared to be a stamp on an opposition player. The offending player was shown a straight red-card for his indiscretion and shortly afterwards, Badsey Rangers grabbed a second goal from substitute, Thomas Benfield, to secure the winners trophy.
