Junior Rugby

Under 17s

Banbury Under 17s scored an impressive 41 - 12 victory over Grove, with both sides playing entertaining rugby despite the poor weather conditions.

Banbury took control of the game early on with tries by Tom Arnold, Barney Gailiffe and Will Hardy.  Grove hit back with a try before Rhys Andrews eased Banbury further ahead at half time. Banbury kept up the pressure and were rewarded by tries by Charlie Allerton, Hugh Saar and Harry Graham, before Grove scored late on.

Under 16s

Banbury Under 16s got their league campaign underway with a 22 – 12 bonus point win over Chinnor on Sunday.

Playing in persistent wind and rain George Grieve opened Banbury’s account only for Chinnor to level the scores. Reece Lines scored Banbury’s second try and with all conversions being missed the score was 10-5 at the turnaround. The weather was never going to allow for expansive running rugby so both sets of forwards set about their task. Charlie Mallock powered over from close range for Banbury and Caleb Shepherd also got on the score-sheet. George Barbeary slotted one conversion for Banbury and Chinnor got a well-worked try on the last play, also converted.

Under 13s

Banbury Under 13s hosted local rivals Bicester in a squad match played in awful conditions.

It was the visitors who shaded the result 15-10 over three 20 minute periods in which both sides showed great commitment in the driving rain.

There were Banbury tries from Fynn Watt and Nathan Wiesheu but, unsurprisingly, no successful conversions.

Mini Rugby

Under 11s

Banbury Under 11A struggled to match a well organised Oxford Harlequin's team, losing 37-0.

The visitors proved too much for Banbury who failed to offer any real defence or attack. Banbury Under 11 B also lost 35-20 with tries from Louis Tooth, Toby Levene,  Jonty Wood and George Compton-Alway.

Under 10s

Banbury Under 10s played Oxford Harlequins on Sunday but went down 30-5.

The sole Banbury try was scored by Hamish Nelson.

Under 8s

Aggregated across a series of matches Banbury Under 8s beat Oxford Harlequins by 14 – 9 on Sunday.

Despite the weather Banbury showed great teamwork against two strong opposing sides to win 2, draw 1 and lose 1 match.
