Another week of frantic weather watching and conversations with the forecasters dominated the activities of HQ workers, but we did get 5 games played on Sunday morning.

It's fair to say with all these postponements, some clubs are now absolutely desperate for football!

Only one out of three County Cup matches got played, meaning automatic roll over to next week for the other two and our representative today Washford Lions went out of the competition after bowing out 3-2 against Areley Kings Reserves. This was a game we had Washford down to win, but maybe they were rusty after only playing one game in some 6 weeks? It certainly looked that way when they found themselves 2-0 down after 15 minutes before Roland Rignall struck twice to restore parity by the hour mark. A long ball late on in the game undid Lions who are now desperate to do well in the remaining outside cup competitions they are in.

Another team to be rusty and certainly feeling the effects of 'match fitness', were Laburnum who went down 4-1 to Division 3 promotion rivals AFC Millfields in a game switched to Charford International to give it the best chance of being played. Giant beanpole striker Andy Seager showed superb composure and had Laburnum ahead early doors, before Millies debutant Ashley Roland levelled after Ethan King had set him up. Stu Hatfield from the penalty spot made it 2-1 to the home side before the break.  Millies dominated most of the second period and Sean Chance's late brace put the icing on the cake and leaves the top of Division 3 very congested, although Millies will be pleased to pull 4 points clear of Laburnum in the process.

In the Prem, it was a routine victory for Victoria Barnt Green as they beat Golden Lion Athletic 7-1. Daniel Lee Wilkes with a hat-trick. Mike Thurbon (shortly emigrating to Hong Kong), Stuart Hall, Matty Collins and Shaun May completed the star studded line up of goalscorers, with Dave Roussell getting GLA's only strike. Vic are now back on the summit of the table and it's nigh on impossible to see anyone removing their crown from them the way they keep on winning.

All games were rained off in Division 2, but Belbroughton's 3G pitch saved their home tie with Stoke Sporting in Division 1 and one they ran out 2-1 winners in. Two long range strikes from impressive home midfield maestro Connor Gater were the order of the day but with Stoke pulling one back with 5 minutes remaining, it was all hands to the pump until the final whistle to repel Stoke from taking home a point. Stoke felt they had a couple of good penalty shouts turned down and Simon Hands had a goal disallowed too.

Congratulations to Rubery Oak for reaching the Premier Cup Final, with a 4-0 victory over Meadow Park on Studley 3G, Oak will be happy with the result but also happy to kick a ball in anger for the first time since 08th December last year! Oak took the game to Meadow and came out deserved winners. Oak could of been 3-0 up within 15 minutes had Nathan Eaton put his chances away but the pint sized hitman didn't convert them.

Oak did take the lead when Eaton managed to carve his way round the back of Meadow's defence and hit a cross/shot across goal only for it to be prodded into the back of the net by a defender for an unforunate own goal. The second goal came from a delightful 'Juan Mata' esc ball over the top from Dean Lea which Joshua Fergusson galloped onto and slammed his shot away. Into the second half and within 30 seconds the game was all but over as Nathan Brown latched onto a through ball and took it round the keeper, but was pulled to a halt when he was taken down by the goalkeeper outside the area. With the goalkeeper denying a clear goalscoring opportunity he was sent off and Meadow had to play the rest of the game with 10 men. Eaton's endeavours did pay off though when Chris Mcgory found him and he headed home past replacement keeper Yarnold. With Meadow now knowing it was not their day, a fourth was added when Josh Mosley smashed home a 25 yarder.

Next week's fixture list is under construction and will be released to clubs by the end of tonight. We are currently operating on a week by week basis until the weather improves and there can be some element of certainty about games getting played.
