Wellesbourne entertained Cov Tech on saturday and again lost a game they should really have won. Bourne still without some first team regulars.

In a messy first twenty minutes it was Tech who had the upper hand and a try and penalty put them 8-0 ahead. Bourne worked hard but dropped passes and wrong options gave Tech chance to clear their lines.A foray into Techs half gave Rooney the chance to put points on the board with a penalty. This buoyed Bourne and a lineout on the Tech 22 saw first Burford drive on then James took it on,at the breakdown it was Mark Aston first to react and drove over the line, but just before half time a quick penalty by the Tech scrum half caught Bourne napping and they scored in the corner.

The second half started and Bourne went on the attack using long kicks to utilise the searing pace of their two wings Scott and Chris Aston to pressurise the Tech fullback.

From a resulting scrum the ball went through the backs with Morphett sending Matt Newberry steaming up the middle, the ball came back and good carries by Turner and Hunter set a ruck 5 meters out and again Aston was on hand to go over. With the scores level Bourne were back in the game with fifteen minutes left but that was as near as they got.

Tech started using their big backs and firstly they went up the blindside after a scrum and scored in the corner, and with five minutes left a good move in the Bourne 22 saw the centre crash over the line which was converted. Hopefully a week off will help get back some of the confidence lacking in the side at the moment said coach Malins.Bourne look for a friendly this week then return to League action with Keresley at home. Final Score Bourne 13-25 Cov Tech.
