Wellesbourne Earn Second Place

North East Midlands Ladies Touch Rugby League

The North East Midlands ladies touch rugby league came to the Home Guard club, in Tiddington, where it was hosted by Wellesbourne rugby club on Sunday.  
The home side delivered some top quality tries and earned themselves 2nd place; winning 5 of their 6 games which included beating top of the league side Stratford 2-1 in their opening game with 2 fast scores in the first half from Lorna Wale and Ria Banks. The Bourne continued with their winning streak for their next 2 games beating Old Laurentians 4-0 ( scores from Vice Capt Kat Hiolian, 2 from Captain Claire Davis and another from Ria Banks) and Newbold Falcons 3-0 (Davis, Wale & Holian). In their 5th game they were narrowly beaten by the tournament winners Camp Hill 2-1 with Wales early lead being their only try. Capt Davis scored the only try against Berkswell and Balsall for a win. Both Wales and Davis scored in their final victory V Rugby St Andrews. Wellesbourne's player of the tournament was Melanie simpson who  was fantastic  In her first tournament.  Training is open to all ladies aged 12 years up held at the home guard club in Tiddington from 7pm-9pm EVERY Thursday.
