Bretforton started the first half well, building on the positive aspects from their game last week. Switching play by the Bret defence meant they could pressure the visitors on both side and were unlucky to convert any of the chances they were given.

The deadlock was broken by Westberries 2s half way through the first half when the visiting team made the most of a loose ball from the home side’s advance up the pitch; and with a quick break were able to put themselves ahead, making the score 1-0.

It was hard for both sides to get back into the match in the first half as play was stopped due to Westberries change of keeper due to illness, and also when one of their players was cautioned after a multitude of dangerous tackles.

The second half was more free flowing and with great passing work between midfield and the forwards, Bretforton were edging closer to levelling the score. It wasn’t to be the case though; a series of quick breaks by the opposition and loose balls from Bretforton meant that Westberries were able to increase their lead with two more goals in a short period of time.

Player injuries and stop-start play meant that Bretforton found it hard to make chances for themselves, but the exceptional hard work of Lisa Workman and Dani Cox in midfield kept the team fighting hard to keep the ball and keep up the brilliant passing that had almost found them the back of the net in the first half.

Westberries cemented their win with a final goal, making the final score 4-0 to the visitors. Without a win this season so far, Bretforton are looking to change their luck this Saturday away to BAC.
