Wildmoor Spa Tennis League Junior Cup March Round 2015/05

The Wildmoor Spa Tennis League

South Warks. Junior Cup - March Round 05/2015

The first March round of Junior Tennis Cup competition Pool matches of the Wildmoor Spa Tennis League for the South Warwickshire & District have been completed with Henley A, Evesham, Stratford-on-Avon, and HDA A Redditch topping their respective groups.

The competition is for teams of 12 years old and under and takes the format of five Pools of four teams who each take it in turn to host a Pool each month over the summer between March and June.  Pools are played on a round robin basis with one pair of juniors from each club, one set each match (tie break at 6-6), allowing 3 sets/matches per team per pool night.  The Junior Play-offs Pool night between the winning teams from each of the four pools will be held at Litlletons Tennis Club on Wednesday, 1st July, 2015.  The top two teams from this play-off Pool will then go on to a full match Cup Final to be played at The Henley in Arden Tennis Club on Sunday 6th September, 2015, alongside the men's Inter-League Charity Cup Final, followed by the League's Annual Presentation.

In the Pool A matches at Henley-in-Arden the third placed team from last year, Henley A, as expected, were the front runners beating all opposition.  Their pair of Louis Walsh & Alex Eveans beat the Redditch pair from HDA B 6-1, then Alcester 6-1, and finally their sister side Henley B 6-2.  The Redditch boys Joe Hollier & Owen Perry for HDA B then went on to claim second spot by beating Henley B 6-2 and Alcester 6-1.  Henley B pair James Price & Alex Didlick claimed third place by beating Adam Haerle & Luke Clemons of Alcester 6-0.

Pool B played at Chipping Campden, saw Evesham top their group when their players Ben Shepherd & Emmanuel Winston defeated the other three sides.  They overpowered hosts Campden A 6-2 and then Campden B 6-0 and finally edged out Pershore in a close scoring match 6-4.  Runners-up in the group were Pershore whose Giles Lowbridge & Dan Fishbourne beat Campden B 6-0 and Campden A 6-2. Campden B pair Harrison Costello & Jack Wiltshire surprised Campden A pair Edward Meats & Will Smith when they overcame them in the closest of all the matches 7-5.

On to Pool C played at Bidford-on-Avon, where visitors Stratford-on-Avon dominated proceedings.  Their players Joseph Pinnock & William Noyes defeated hosts Bidford 6-2, then squeezed past Littletons 7-5, before beating Ilmington 6-1.  In the remaining matches Littletons pair Liam Clear & Calam Bennett beat Ilmington 6-0 and Bidford 6-2.  Hosts Bidford boys Adam Farrow & Alfie Lovell gained some respectability by beating Ilmington pair Harry Cronshaw & Fred Barnhard 6-1.

At HDA Redditch the Pool D matches were completed between all four teams from the same club.  Current Champions HDA A as expected, won all three of their matches, with their new pairing of Harvey Ravenscroft & Scott Mortimer  beating HDA C 6-1, HDA D 6-1 And HDA E 6-0.  Paulina Jurkowska & Latesha Grant for HDA C defeated HDA D 6-1 and HDA E 6-0.  Finally, HDA D duo Kiyyah Grant & Jasmine Bwaii beat HDA E couple Greg Cook & Aaron Bwaii 6-2.
