This was by far the most successful launch event we’ve had.

We had 14 injured Scottish troops interested in trying karting so we contacted XTREME KARTING in Edinburgh to discuss setting up our first event in Scotland.

They very generously offered free use of their fantastic facilities, so all funds raised would go towards getting Team KartForce Scotland racing.

Xtreme Karting has always been keen to show their support and help local Forces organisations to set up karting events for troops and their families. They have 2 karts with hand controls and donate all income generated from these kart to The Soldiers’ Charity (Army Benevolent Fund).

Without the amazing support given to us by Xtreme Karting we wouldn’t have been able to launch Team KartForce Scotland. This event has raised the funds needed for this new team to start their racing by entering team endurance races.

1st Indigo Motorsport
2nd Knockhill
3rd KartForce Fife

Mikey, Christie and Ryan were highest placed KF team, with the Rookie lads coming a very impressive 6th and 7th out of 11 teams.

It was fantastic to see Marino Franchitti again. Marino’s been a great supporter of KartForce so when he heard we were launching a Scottish team, he wanted to join us to show his support.

Very proud of the massive support given by so many people. This has been the best launch event in KartForce history.

SUN 17th NOV 2013

Only 3 days after the launch event, we entered 2 teams in a winter team endurance series – 1 race per month until March 2014.

The Scottish Sun Rookie of The Year, Christie Doran – who has helped Davie Birrell and Mikey Courts – is helping us once again. Christie held a short coaching session for the lads prior to their first outdoor race.

A great first race for the lads who qualified 3rd and 9th, and finished 4th and 11th.

Now for some more coaching before the return for the second race in this winter series.

KNOCKHILL has been extremely supportive of everything we have done in Scotland.

They welcomed Christie’s ideas to offer Davie Birrell her seat and car so he could have his racing debut. And when Christie asked if they could help Mikey, they donated his ARDS Test.

Knockhill supported us once again by entering a team in our launch event and Stuart Gray, Director of Knockhill, asked, “What can Knockhill do to help Team KartForce Scotland?”

What could be better for our Rookie team than to have the wealth of expertise that Knockhill can provide. What the lads need is coaching, so RORY BUTCHER, 3rd in the 2013 Porsche Carrera Cup GB, will be giving our lads coaching at Knockhill.

The lads have had their first race and now will get some top level coaching. They’ll compete in the 2nd race of this winter series in 4 weeks time and this is when they’ll see their first massive leap in driver skills.

We’ll find more races for the lads to enter so they can keep sharping their skills so by the start of the race season in March 2014, this team will be read to step up to more competitive racing.

The launch of our Rookie Scottish team could not have gone better.
