Under 16s

Banbury Under 16s travelled to a windy Bromsgrove on Sunday and produced an emphatic 45-0 win. Jake Anderson opened Banbury’s account as the hosts backs struggled to cope with Banbury’s pace. Anderson added a second and Charlie Mallock plus Reece Lines also went over in the half. Jack Briggs added two conversions to make it 24-0 at the turnaround. Bromsgrove’s forwards came out with all guns blazing for the second-half forcing Banbury into some uncharacteristic errors at the break-down. However the backs still reigned supreme and fly-half Luca Catania scored a brace of tries, with Mallock also getting his second of the match. Briggs converted all three tries to make it 45-0 at the final whistle.

Under 15s

Banbury Under 15s entertained Daventry at Bodicote Park on Sunday and won by 22-5. In strong wind, Banbury struggled to keep hold of the ball in the first half going in 0-5 down at half time. With a larger proportion of experienced players making up the team in the second half, the game tipped Banbury’s way with the final score being 22-5. Banbury’s try scorers were Owen Howlett, Jake Peters (2 tries) and Marcus Saar.

Under 12s

Banbury Under 12s fielded two mixed teams away to Chinnor on Sunday. Chinnor won three matches 15-0, 35-10 and 10-5, with Banbury winning the last match 15-5. Banbury’s try scorers were Sean Baker, Ollie Farr (2 tries), Salam Raseki and Edward Thompson.

Under 11s

Banbury Under 11s competed in the Northampton Saints Land Rover Cup matchday tournament on Saturday. The first match was a 0-0 draw against Ipswich, the second match against Northampton Old Scouts was won 5-0 with Quinton Blythe scoring, and the third game against Kettering was also drawn 0-0. Despite being unbeaten they finished second in the group on number of tries scored. A depleted squad travelled to Chinnor on Sunday and lost 20-0.

Under 10s

Banbury Under 10A secured a thumping 30-0 away win over Chinnor Under 10A on Sunday. Great organisation and intelligent attacking play saw the team run out winners by 6 tries to nil. The foundation was typically ferocious tackling and, as the game wore on and the opposition tired, the boys put ever more width on the ball in attack. Banbury’s tries came from all quarters with two for Callum Davies and one each for Jacob Hancock, Cameron Smith, Josh Joubert and Hamish Nelson.

Under 8s

Banbury Under 8s travelled to Chinnor on Sunday. The series of games were very even with some excellent coordinated attacking play from both sides. The deciding factor in Banbury’s favour was their defensive play with Banbury winning 5 out of the 9 games, plus 2 draws and 2 defeats. Aidan Walker is worthy of special praise running in several trys from well inside Banbury’s own half.
